Joice Gabriela Visits Her Story Through Art at the Las Vegas Civic Center Gallery

October 10, 2026

Brazilian contemporary mixed-media artist Joice Gabriela attended the reception for Her Story Through Art: Las Vegas Women Artists at the Las Vegas Civic Center Gallery.

The evening offered an opportunity to meet one of the exhibition’s organizers, reconnect with artists she already knew, and discover the work of others. Curated by Joan De Santis and Amanda “Rawky” Lozano, founder of Raw Femme Media, the exhibition brings together women artists whose work has contributed to the artistic life of Las Vegas.

Among the works that caught Joice’s attention were those of Rita Deanin Abbey (1930–2021). Abbey’s interest in geology, rock formations, and the textures and colors of the desert connects with subjects Joice explores in her own practice, including natural materials, geological processes, and transformation.

Joice congratulates all the participating artists and thanks the curators and organizing team for an evening of art and conversation.
