CHARMS OF THE SEA Selected for Desert Pools
I am honored to share that my artwork Charms of the Sea has been selected for Desert Pools, a juried exhibition presented by Clark County Public Arts at the Gallery at Winchester-Dondero Cultural Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Desert Pools invites artists to reflect on water as one of Earth's most essential elements and to explore its presence through memory, landscape, imagination, and human experience. Set within the Mojave Desert, the exhibition examines the many ways water shapes both our environment and our collective identity.
Born in Brazil and currently based in the United States, my artistic practice explores the relationship between natural materials, memory, and transformation. Working with crystals, shells, raw stones, sand, mineral pigments, and layered resin, I create sculptural surfaces that investigate how materials preserve traces of time, place, and lived experience.
Rather than depicting landscapes, my work seeks to evoke internal environments where earth, water, light, and texture become metaphors for resilience, belonging, and continuous transformation.
Charms of the Sea reflects this ongoing investigation by approaching water as a living archive of memory, movement, and renewal. Instead of portraying the ocean as a physical place, the work considers water as a force that connects landscapes, emotions, and personal histories.
Created with natural shells, mineral elements, and resin, layered textures evoke shifting currents carrying traces of resilience, change, and time. The composition suggests that water remembers every passage, shaping both the environments it touches and the people whose lives it transforms.
Through organic materials and luminous surfaces, the work invites viewers to consider water not only as the source of life, but also as a symbol of belonging, adaptation, and the quiet possibility of transformation.
