Inner Roots explores the invisible connections between origin, displacement, and transformation. Inspired by the landscapes of the desert and by the personal journey of becoming, this mixed media artwork reflects on the strength found within environments of contrast.

The composition is divided into two opposing yet connected worlds. One side represents the desert: a landscape of dryness, pressure, and endurance, created through layers of sand, stones, textures, and organic fragments. The cuts and fractures across the surface represent the difficult passages we encounter throughout life. Their gilded seams recall the philosophy of Kintsugi, embracing fracture as part of an object's history rather than something to conceal. Within these golden lines, the work suggests that resilience is not the absence of hardship, but the transformation that emerges through it. The gold becomes a symbol of hidden treasures, reminding us that even through challenges there is potential for growth, renewal, and beauty.

At the center, a female figure appears as an abstract self-portrait. She represents the inner traveler, the woman who carries memories, experiences, and transformations within herself. Her flowing hair, created with amethyst elements, becomes both wind and roots, symbolizing intuition, ancestry, connection, and the invisible forces that keep us grounded while we continue evolving. The presence of shells introduces another layer of meaning: movement, migration, memory, and the idea of carrying pieces of home wherever we go.

The figure is covered by a layer of resin, representing water and fluidity, creating a dialogue between opposing elements: desert and ocean, dryness and movement, roots and exploration, origin and new beginnings.

Inner Roots reflects on resilience, regeneration, and the continuous process of becoming. It is a reminder that our roots are not only where we come from, but also the connections, memories, and transformations we create along the way.
